Jeff Chang

Jeff Chang's speeches are fascinating explorations of the confluence between culture and society. In particular, he traces the history of Hip Hop to examine social history in the United States.

Chang was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and holds an M.A. in Asian American Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. He was recently named a 2008 USA Ford Fellow in Literature by United States Artists, an advocacy program that illuminates the value of artists to society; there are only 51 recipients of this honor. He is currently the Executive Director of the Institute for Diversity in the Arts at Stanford University.

As an author, Chang is probably most well known for his books 'Can't Stop Won't Stop: A History of the Hip-Hop Generation' and 'Who We Be: The Colorization of America.' Like Jeff Chang's speeches, these books trace the history of multiculturalism in America, using the history Hip Hop to eloquently do so.
