The keynotes by Jacqueline Novogratz explore her personal experiences in Africa. She graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor's degree in Economics and International Relations. She continued education at the Stanford School of Business where she received her MBA. She began her career in finance, as an international credit analyst at Chase Manhattan Bank. However, her stay there would only last three years before she began her quest to do more. She joined the World Bank and UNICEF as a consultant. She founded Duterimbere, Rwanda's first microfinance fund, among other initiatives like The Philanthropy Workshop and The Next Generation Leadership workshops with the Rockefeller Association.
Her latest career move includes founding the Acumen Fund in 2001. She currently sits on the Council on Foreign Relations as well as the advisory board for the Stanford School of Business (amongst others). She authored a book 'The Blue Sweater: Bridging the Gap Between the Rich and Poor' and won a number of notable awards as a result
