Jack Andraka is a Maryland high school sophomore who occasionally gives speeches on his pancreatic cancer detector, which aids in the early detection of pancreatic, ovarian and lung cancers. Andraka was motivated to learn more about pancreatic cancer after losing a loved one to the disease.
Jack Andraka created his cancer-detecting device after plenty of trial and error. He received help developing this test from the team at John Hopkins University. Andraka has received the Smithsonian American Ingenuity Youth Award. His cancer detector is cheaper, quicker and more effective than previous pancreatic cancer detection methods. Jack has been a guest speaker at numerous events since creating this paper strip cancer detector, such as the Clinton Global Initiative.
