Edwin Catmull earned a degree in physics and computer science at the University of Utah, and worked at the Boeing Company in Seattle and the New York Institute of Technology. He worked with George Lucas at Lucasfilm where he helped build a digital image compositing technology. Catmull is currently the president of Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios.
Catmull earned several Academy Scientific and Technical Awards at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and in 2008 he was awarded the Gordon E. Sawyer Award at the 81st Academy Awards.
