David Ropeik

Speeches by David Ropeik focus on risk perception. He is an author, as well as a teacher and international consultant. Ropeik also created a training program for journalists called 'Media Coverage of Risk.'

In 2000, Ropeik joined the Harvard School of Public Health and took on the role of Director of Communications for the Center for Risk Analysis. In 2006, Ropeik left this position and he now teaches at the Harvard Extension School.

David Ropeik encourages people to use rational thinking by putting feelings aside and looking at facts. He has given speeches on the irrationality of the human brain and how instinctively people put emotional reactions before fact assessment. Ropeik believes putting emotions aside when making important decisions is key.
