In the Carl Hiassen keynotes, he points out the deficiencies and absurdities that often plague American journalism and broadcasting. As a satirical novelist, he delivers his points with sharp wit; as a former journalist, he soberly draws out the implications of poorly done journalism.
In 1974, Hiassen graduated the University of Florida with a degree in journalism. He then went on to work as a reporter for Cocoa Today before graduating to the Miami Herald, where he currently works. Since 1979, he has been an investigative journalist. The Carl Hiassen keynotes employ the same mixture of curiosity, perceptiveness and persistence as he does in his columns.
Hiassen is also a satirical novelist, authoring over 20 books. He is probably most well known for the 1993 classic 'Striptease,' which was later adapted into a feature film.
