The CEO of GOAL, a humanitarian aid organization, received his Master's degree from University College Dublin in Modern History. From 1991 to 1997, he taught as a high school teacher while also studying law and qualifying as a barrister in 1997. In 1999, the former Fianna Fáil politician was elected to public office and held a range of positions including Minister for Children and Youth Affairs and Minister of State for Children.
After leaving office in 2011, he returned to practicing law before coming on at GOAL in November 2012. The Barry Andrews talk clearly demonstrates his empathy for children in relation to the Syrian conflict.
