In his talk about globalization, Ian Bremmer defines a 'G-Zero' world -- "a world order in which no single country or durable alliance of countries can meet the challenges of global leadership." The political scientist declares that globalization is happening, but americanization is not. The talk about globalization then discusses the implications of that for whole world and how this impacts the United States and New York.
The speaker explains there are a lot of upset people in America because they don't trust establishment or the media, and believe Washington is broken. However, he suggests a more global, comparative perspective. Bremmer believes the way to lead is by example, to be so compelling people want to emulate the US. American leaders must recognize the truth: the country's not in decline and it's getting objectively harder to have influence on the global order. The answer is either a crisis that forces a response, see the growing challenges are urgent enough to force leaders to change or do neither.
