Susan Cain is a writer and former Wall Street lawyer who recently released her first book, 'Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking.' Susan Cain considers herself an introvert, which she says was especially a challenge while attending Harvard Law School. Cain's interest in human nature and introversion and its link to creativity led her on a seven year path writing 'Quiet.'
In this charming and poignant talk, Susan Cain talks of society's emphasis on extroversion and the pressure placed on introverted children to "come out of their shell" when they may prefer to work quietly on their own rather than in groups. Susan Cain says that we need introverted people as they represent an important facet of human nature and are necessary to think up new ideas and solutions to problems facing everyone.
