Technology's Negative Impacts

Amanda Jones, a student at Mountain Brook Junior High, starts out her speech on technology by looking at her phone in order to demonstrate what people tend to do when they're in a slightly uncomfortable situation. With this, she introduces the impact that technology has had on one's ability to be present in their daily encounters, and how many are even addicted to their phones and the level of distraction they provide.

Jones continues her speech on technology by explaining the positive impact she experienced when she went on a long trip where she couldn't use her phone. In the end, she felt closer to those around her, as well as the environment she was in, which led her to enjoy her trip much more than she would have if she were worried about keeping up with her texts and updating her Instagram.
