In his social good presentation, Dale Partridge explores how conscious capitalism is not a trend, but a piece of the bigger picture. According to the speaker, capitalism functions in four eras.
The first era is honest, exceptional and moral and exemplifies people over profit. This is typically an early stage company, where almost all companies start. Craftsmanship, authenticity, handmade and integrity are all at the core of its business. The second era is ethical, satisfactory and efficient, represented by people and profit. The third era is unacceptable, unethical and deceptive (profit over people). This is characterized by planned obsolescence, shortcuts, greed, layoffs, embezzlement and disproportionate wealth. The fourth era where we are now is apologetic, rectifying and truth-based. Marked by transparency, exposing of lies, re-domestication and resurrection of core values, this stage lasts 3-5 years.
The social good presentation explains capitalism's cyclical nature and how in 2020 we will be lead into first era again. The speaker's takeaways include conscious capitalism is not a fluke, just a current manifestation of the apologetic era. We are in the apologetic era, meaning honest era qualities are your best ways forward. This is also a huge opportunity for people of faith.
