Sally Kohn's Talk Explores the Idea of Emotional Correctness
Mesel Isaac — January 25, 2014 — Keynote Trends
Sally Kohn's talk explores the insights she's gained being a "progressive lesbian talking head on Fox News," a position that forced her to engage in very heated debates.
Through these debates, Kohn has learned that it's not political correctness that we should be focusing on, but instead it should be emotional correctness that we pay attention to. Rather than starting with ideas or facts as a basis to push our arguments forward, we should instead allow our compassion and sense of emotional correctness to lead the way.
Being emphatic and compassionate should be the cornerstone of any argument you're trying to make. As Sally so eloquently put it, "you can't get anyone to agree with you if they won't listen to you."
