In her resource economy lecture, Sue Everatt paints a picture of what a world would look like without a monetary system. According to the speaker, a monetary system creates false scarcity, which is inherently linked to corruption. She believes humanity should instead rely on natural resources and clean energy. To counter the objection that alternative energy methods are more expensive, she says the sun does not charge us per ray, nor does the wind charge us per gust.
She envisions a world without politicians where scientists and technology run rampant and are free to use their expertise at will. Robots and automated services will become the norm in all facets of life, from architecture and construction to dining and even health care. The resource economy lecture positions resources as the basis of currency, not money.
