Catherine Plasket displays courage and determination in her surpassing trauma speech.
In August 2010 Plasket had a Grade Three concussion which caused her to receive severe brain injury. While the likelihood of having to live a more limited and caution-heavy life was a severe disappointment, the young achiever continued to demonstrate that she wasn't going to sit idly by and let valuable experiences slip away.
Eventually Catherine came across Flying Horse Farms, a camp created to allow children with severe illnesses engage in fun, physical and stimulating activities. Her time spent there encouraged her to begin a charity that would help raise camperships in order to allow other children from financially struggling families to also attend the camp. Ending her speech, Catherine Plasket says "when things go wrong, don't go with them."
