Lost Public Spaces

This Noah Pylvainen conference explores the shifting dynamics of public space and the human interaction within it. Pylvainen explores the evolving concept of a public space with a highly visual and artistic approach. He points out that much of what is now considered public has moved online, shrinking the idea of community into a solely digital concept. With things like peer-to-peer sharing and open data, public spaces are more geared towards information technology.

The traditional idea of a public space is being lost on new cities. Old European cities still thrive with public locations built to purposely drive the community traffic and maintain interaction. New cities are struggling to create public spaces that obtain attention and activity in the context of traditional neighborhood interaction.
