This music speech by Yochai Benkler discusses the future of cultural production. Although artists are finding it difficult to find monetary avenues, Yochai feels there is still a bright future.
He begins by addressing the current problem with music being so readily available on the Internet for no cost, which heavily affects artist profits. He feels as though this is true, there have been positives to offset this. For instance, the cost of producing music is relatively low to other industries and there are still monetary opportunities in performances.
His music speech goes on to add that this is not a permanent thing. The way music has been enjoyed over the years has evolved significantly and its current state will continue to advance as well.
