"How to reduce the wealth gap between Black and white Americans" is a new TED talk by Kedra Newsom Reeves. Giving viewers a background on America's history of racial wealth inequality, the wealth equity strategist outlines "four ways financial institutions can expand opportunity for Black individuals, families, entrepreneurs and communities."
Sharing that white families have a median wealth that is statistically "10 times greater than that of Black families," Kedra asks her audience to consider how the nation got there and what we can do to keep this gap from growing.
She speaks about the need for both federal governments and financial institutions to come together to create innovations centered around helping marginalized groups gain better access to credit in order to close an ongoing wealth gap nation-wide.
