Feminism-Advocating Males

In her gender equality speech at the UN, Emma Watson discusses what it means to be a feminist. The British actress observes fighting for women's rights frequently become synonymous with man-hating and this is something that must stop. By definition feminism is the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. The speaker believes it is not the word but the idea and ambition behind it that carries meaning. There are many inadvertent feminists who are changing the world as family members, educators and mentors by not expecting less of females because of their sex.

Emma Watson's gender equality speech recognizes women's rights as human rights and states there is not one country in the world where females are truly recognized as equals. She asks how can we affect change when only half the population is invited to the conversation. As such, she asks men for a formal invitation and notes due to a distorted sense of male success, men don't have equality either.
