Elif Shafak, a Turkish-British activist and writer, shared a short piece on the harms of climate change with TED, called 'If Trees Could Speak.'
The talk is a part of the Countdown Global Launch, which introduces a new initiative from TED that aims to propel more conversations around the climate crisis, while supplying viewers with knowledge on how the many issues pertaining to it can hopefully be solved.
In her story, Shafak considers how the human relationship with trees has impacted them over the course of time. She speaks to the significance of trees when it comes to manufacturing, as well as the damage humans have caused to them. While humans may not be particularly aware of the trees that surround them, their importance has only grown as climate change worsens.
