Dave Logan Discusses Human Tendancy to Form Natural Tribes or Groups
Jana Pijak — February 20, 2012 — Keynote Trends
Business professor Dave Logan discusses the five types of tribes naturally formed by human society. Whether found in schools or workplaces, these societal groupings are important when exploring leadership traits.
Logan believes that all humans are part of tribal groups and stresses the benefits of understanding our shared tribal tendencies. He believes that tribes are the driving force behind our society, describing them as groups of 20 to 100 people that are responsible for getting things done.
Explaining how the majority of humans gravitate towards a specific group, the Logan highlights the many fragmented tribes found within a large cluster of people and describes the five stages of tribes. While the first stage reflects the culture of gangs and prisons, the last stage is reflective of someone who has a greater self-esteem.
