Devdutt Pattanaik's Business Sutra Talk Explores Mythology & Business
Mesel Isaac — January 28, 2014 — Keynote Trends
In his Business Sutra talk, physician turned business consultant Devdutt Pattanaik discusses the differences between Indian management beliefs and Western management beliefs through the lens of mythology.
Studying many modern business management books written by Europeans and Americans, Devdutt Pattanaik noticed that they bore a strong resemblance in format to stories from the Bible. With that in mind, Pattanaik goes about exploring Indian management styles through the Pruranas (the ancient chronicles in which the stories of Indian mythology are contained) and develops an Indian approach to management.
Devdutt Pattanaik's Business Sutra talk explores the interplay between deep seated cultural beliefs and management style. And by examining the sacred texts of Indian mythologies, Pattanaik is able to form an Indian style of business management that differs to Western styles and offers many unique insights.
