Confronting Global Inequities

In this speech from the former CEO and Chief Software Architect of Microsoft, Bill Gates discusses the opportunity in today's world to use technological advancements to fight global poverty and disease. He begins his speech by sharing his learned experiences in passing through Harvard. He was surrounded by outstanding and intimidating intelligence, constantly keeping him challenged and inspired to accomplish great things.

Gates goes on to impress his one regret upon the audience -- he wishes his awareness of the awful inequities in the world existed at an earlier age. Gates says, "Humanity's greatest advances are not in its discoveries, but how those discoveries are applied to reduce inequity." He finishes with hope, explaining how through accelerating technologies we can finally take on these inequities and create solutions.
