One can determine the success level of a short or long-term goal by monitoring and tracking their success with the use of a personal timeline.
Individuals must consider the impact of their goals and how such goals affect their personal life, happiness and the big picture of where they are ultimately trying to go in their lives. Despite of a short-term goal's success, this goal may not ultimately be a beneficial when looking at the big picture.
Hutson stresses that individuals must have a sense of joy and accomplishment at work. If work is making someone miserable, no amount of success can overshadow their inner unhappiness.
